In February the Flying Carpet

beheld

AN EXUBERANCE OF VALENTINES

Then the Flying Carpet

undulated through

A GERIATRIC OF SNOWBIRDS

and 

A SQUADRON OF SAGUARO

to Tucson, Arizona

went gaga over

A GAGGLE OF GOLF CARTS

went barrel racing through

A CACOPHONY OF CACTUS

slithered through the shadows of

AN AMAZEMENT OF ALOES

paid homage to Our Lady at

AN OVERFLOWING OF OFFERINGS

and hustled home.

elegaic sunset

luscious exploding

traveler palm jigsaw hearts

shadow baskets

gossamer
order and chaos

Then the Flying Carpet

giddy-ups to Houston

paradox: 

water rippling over stones

recalling raked dry gardens

In November the Flying Carpet bought a ticket 

 at the CLIFFS OF INSANITY AMUSEMENT PARK

and rode these rides... 

"The Scared Silly" with Katarina

"The Mysteries of Roswell" with  M#@QQT

 "The Batteries Not Included" with Carl Hungus

"The Crazy Wave" with Fuzz

"The Bed of Doom" with Swiss Cheese

"The Tilt-A-Whirl" with the Eyeball Kid

 

Flying Carpet tips a fool's cap to The Spirit of Levity

October Flying Carpet

In October

the Flying Carpet

lived the High Life

and enjoyed

the acme of autumn.

Braking for the occasional Pegasus,

 

the Flying Carpet was rarin' to go

 

to The Classical Gas Museum in Embudo, NM

and Garcia's Fruit Stand near Velarde, NM.

Braking for migrating cranes,
the Flying Carpet made a splash landing at
Bosque Del Apache Wildlife Refuge,

got its Outsider on at
Pop Shaffer's home
south of scenic downtown Mountainair,

and mourned vanished culture
at the ruins of Abo and Quarai
in the fading blaze of October.

September Flying Carpet

In September 

the Flying Carpet "sailed off through night and day"

 and went to "Where The Wild Things Are"

(a.k.a. the Penland Instructors Retreat near Asheville, NC)

 

107 past instructors 

"made mischief of one sort and another"

  

The Wild Things "roared their terrible roars"

"and gnashed their terrible teeth"

"and rolled their terrible eyes"

and the "Wild Rumpus" was never ending

Then the Flying Carpet "waved goodbye to the Wild Things"

and packed its suitcase

(a little tricky to keep the suitcase attached to the carpet)

"and sailed back over a year

and in and out of weeks

and through a day"

at Cerrillos

(the land that time forgot and Mary Jane remembered)

and into "the night of" its very own wall to wall...
