January Flying Carpet 2018

In January The Flying Carpet
skedaddled
"On the Road Again"

and lingered for a spell in Denver.
At the Tourney Transportation Museum
there were many
distinguished elderly gentlemen...
some creating quite a spectacle

some with Royal pretensions

some swashbuckling, buttery, and suave

some dipsomaniac and smashed

and elegant bicycles
caught in patterned stillness

Denver Art Museum

December Flying Carpet 2017

In December the Flying Carpet
swoops into your world
after the hilarity and silliness of the season

and coziness
and hopefully merry and bright

and the dazzlement of lights
filling the darkness

and the “chill of a wintry light”
and the early closing of our days

it's time to look to new genesis

and to open the New Year

A bumper sticker glimpsed yesterday
says it all:
“Make America gracious again”

November Flying Carpet 2017

In November
The Flying Carpet
Braked not for the bad
but for the good
in the South Valley of Albuquerque
The annual
Dia de los Muertos Marigold Parade
encourages everyone to strut their stuff
in the most outrageous
celebration of Hispanic culture

The LOWRIDERS
going low 'n slow

The DREAMERS out in force
carrying a coffin...
“Don't bury my dream!”

The BUS People
say “Truth is Power”
“I just look illegal”
the VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE
is extant in all her splendor
with roses and shining aura

This Street Artist is
wearing his Mona Lisa Catrina

Everyone goes all out!!!!

Special thanks to Sialia and Jacob

October Flying Carpet 2017

In October
The Flying Carpet
wanders gardens of autumn delight
taking solace from the chaos

Riotous begonias
before a morning of windowed frost

 A color poem of ivy

and Autumn Blaze Maple

One last heavenly morning glory
clinging to slanting shadows

Brave fall crocuses
transitory
giving threads of saffron

Intricacy of clematis

“Quincey” laden with fruit...
the apricot leaves making a golden
bed of sleep for winter

We bring the echeveria
and the plectranthus
inside to feast on lingering bloom

and wish you an aspen glyph Halloween

Special thanks to Sialia, Sarah,
and Gail and Zack
for letting The Flying Carpet
ripple through your morning gardens
