May Flying Carpet 2023

 In May
The Flying carpet explores creation by discovery…
that which is

tangential, fortuitous, serendepitous, unexpected:

A suitcase of rambles

a swirl of Gaudi

a garage of paintings

an excavation of surprise
a rip off of paste on
an I Ching of cat whiskers
a collaboration of scribbles
a floor of chance masterpieces

With congratulations to Nelly
gratitude to Freya and her cats
and special thanks to Zack
for the everchanging floors

April Flying Carpet 2023

 In April
the Flying Carpet
immersed in spring

Potential…
expectation
frantic birds
chasing each other...

the bud
caught between inside and outside

the blowsy tulips
ingenious packaging
the egg

the seed
containment

“wrapped within
young leaves:
the sound of water
-Soseki

the seeds breaking open
and finally the bloom*

Special thanks to Lux for
many smiles for a while

February Flying Carpet 2023

 In February
The Flying Carpet

migrated with the cranes
to the Rio Grande valley

Los Luceros…
Clear winter light
etches shadow silhouettes
on soft adobe walls

Stories within stories within stories
of the 18th century ranch

New Mexico History
beckons us to explore
the winding dirt roads…
Primordial rural New Mexico
Valentines, gnomes, motorcycles,
votives, pickups, reindeers
and always plastic flowers
adorn the graves of the adored

And back home… snow
and snow and more snow
and we come full circle…

Special thanks to Maggie…
with her adventurous heart

January Flying Carpet 2023

In January the Flying Carpet

flew to the Land of Dreams

and in a dream
she was at an art opening
flying paper airplanes.
A message was written on each one:
“Dreams are Time's Boomerang”

That dream turned into an inspiration in waking life…
so she started making

paper airplanes

and she wanted

to make a lot of them

and in the making,
some paper airplanes turned into valentines

and she started folding them
and stacking them up

and then they looked like feathers
and then they looked like seedpods
and then they turned back into valentines
and the valentines' message was:
Plant a seed of love

Special thanks to the Dreamers
and the Valentiners
